ChatNap is a browser extension that pauses AI websites.

It tracks your own usage and reflects it back to you. That is the entire product. No data leaves your device.

TLDR: Everything ChatNap records stays on your device, in your browser. No servers. No accounts. No analytics. No third parties. Uninstalling the extension deletes everything.

The data we collect

Where it goes

All data is stored locally using chrome.storage.local (or browser.storage.local in Firefox). It never leaves your browser. There are no external servers, no cloud sync, no analytics services, and no third-party scripts of any kind.

What sites are monitored

ChatNap injects its overlay only on the following domains:

No other sites are accessed or observed. The extension does not read page content, prompt text, or AI responses on any site.

What exactly is monitored

To count prompts, ChatNap detects when you press Enter or click the send button on supported sites. It does not read, capture, or store the content of anything you type or submit. It records only that a submission occurred.

To track time, ChatNap uses browser alarms that fire once per minute while a monitored tab is active. Tab focus and blur events are used to pause the timer when you switch away.

How long do you keep it

Daily counters (time, prompts, pauses) reset automatically at midnight each day. The intercept log is trimmed to 500 entries and never transmitted anywhere. You can reset all daily stats at any time from the extension popup.

Uninstalling ChatNap removes all stored data from your browser. There is no account to delete and no server-side data to request.

Permissions used

Legal

ChatNap is not intended for children under 13 and does not knowingly collect any information from them.

If this policy changes in a material way, the effective date above will be updated. Since all data is local, no retroactive changes to data handling are possible.
